Remarkably, the Tonbridge group undertaking the course were the youngest and the first Tonbridge students ever to complete this advanced level of training
The training voyage began in challenging conditions, with strong winds on the first passage from Eastbourne to Brighton demanding resilience and teamwork. Over the following days, Anton gained extensive experience navigating the Solent, managing complex pilotage, and undertaking a night passage in reduced visibility- skills central to advanced seamanship.
A 65‑nautical‑mile return sail to Eastbourne provided further opportunity to consolidate his navigation and boat‑handling skills, before the final day was dedicated to man overboard recovery drills, including scenarios requiring recovery under sail alone.
A significant achievement and a testament to his commitment, capability, and calmness on the water.
