DALZELL, Hugh Anthony
Died on 4 December 2019, aged 86. Hugh died peacefully at home in Devon following a long battle with chronic heart disease, myeloma and leukaemia. He is survived by Jann, his wife of 50 years, their children Steven and Katie and his younger brothers, Peter and Richard (HS 54-58).

MEREDITH, Philip
Died on 21 December 2019, aged 81. Philip Meredith displayed great resilience and grace in the face of his long-term cancer. He was able to remain at home surrounded by his beloved family, with the support of Hospice in the Weald, and Crowborough District Nurses. Madelyn, Oliver (WW 81-86), Benjamin (WW 84-89), Alexander (WW 87-92) and Guy (PH 50-54) thank them for their dedicated care. A private committal service will take place shortly, and a gathering of happy remembrance will be arranged in 2020.

STEPHENSON, Dr. Charles Graham
Died on 12 December 2019 at Kiwanis Pavilion in his 90th year. Charles passed away peacefully. Survived by his beloved wife of 59 years Carolyn (nee Garnham) and by his children Justin (Cathy), Ashley (Jessie) of Halifax and Lucy Lobmeier (Tony), and granddaughters Louisa and Sophie. As flowers always made Charles sneeze, please make a donation in lieu to Jeneece Place through the Children's Health Foundation of Vancouver Island, 345 Wale Rd, Victoria B.C., V9B 6X2 or at islandkidsfirst.com/jeneece-place.

GRACEY, Richard Malcolm Kirkwood
Died on 3 December 2019, aged 83. Our best wishes and condolences go to Sarah, Patrick (PH 76-81), Catherine and Richard's six grandchildren. A memorial service is being held for Richard on Thursday 26th March at 2.30pm, at Tonbridge School in the Chapel of St Augustine. Guests are asked to arrive from 1.45pm. Died peacefully on 2 December 2019, aged 89.

WHITE, John Joseph (Lt Col)
Died on 22 July after a short illness. The youngest son of the late Russell White, the first Bishop of Tonbridge, he was married in 1960 to Gunvor (Jill) from Sweden. He is survived by Jill and his two children, Kim (Sc 74-79) and Simon (Sc 76-81) and six grandchildren.

PETTMAN, Martin Edmund
Died on 23 November 2019, aged 72, after an ongoing battle against leukaemia.  Husband to Melanie, father to Tessa, son of Peter (PS 33-38), brother to Chris (WH 56-61), uncle to Mark (WW 81-85) and Nick (PH 87-92) and great-uncle to Toby (WW 2011-2016) and Hugo (WW 2013-2018).  A fine sportsman, Martin was Captain of the 1st XV, gained a Rackets Blue at Cambridge, and enjoyed playing occasionally for the OTs in the Cricketer Cup.  He will be greatly missed.

CAVALIERO, Glen Tilburn, The Reverend
Died on 30 October 2019, aged 92. Poet, scholar and much-loved teacher, colleague and friend. His critical writings include John Cowper Powys: Novelist, The Rural Tradition in the English Novel 1900-1939, A Reading of E.M. Forster, Charles Williams: Poet of Theology, The Supernatural and English Fiction, and The Alchemy of Laughter: Comedy in English Fiction.  His unique depth and range of reading are reflected in the titles of his books. He published seven collections of poetry, culminating in The Flash of Weathercocks: New and Collected Poems, published in 2016.

He had just completed his second year at Durham University where he was studying Modern Languages and Cultures as a student at the College of St Hild and St Bede.
