We still have some spaces available for this year's Arrow Trophy, but I need to finalise the numbers soon, so that I can confirm our entry. See details below. If you're interested, please get in touch with me as soon as possible.

Also this year's Nick Turner Generations' Cup, the annual match between the OTSA and the school, will be at Bough Beech on the afternoon of 17 May (next weekend). If you'd like to dust off your dinghy skills and race against the boys, please let me or Jonny Moss (jonathan.moss@tonbridge-school.org) know.

The Race Entry for this year's Arrow Trophy Regatta has opened and Tonbridge intends once again to enter. It will be held on the weekend of the 4-5 October 2025 and consists of racing between the Old Boys/Girls Sailing Associations of 20+ schools in 37' or 40' yachts in the Solent.

We have 8-10 places on board and I need to finalise our entry by mid-May. It's always an excellent weekend's sailing and I do hope you can take part this year. If you'd like to join us, please email me as soon as you can.

Some more details:

  • We will once again be racing in the Sunsail F41 fleet
  • We won our fleet racing last year, so we are hoping to make it into the match racing this year
  • We meet at Port Solent around 16.00 on Friday 3 Oct for a leisurely sail across to Cowes. If you're arriving by train, someone can probably collect you from the nearest train station. If you cannot make it to Port Solent in time, you have the option of taking the Red Jet across and meeting us in Cowes.
  • We will berth at Shepard's Marina in Cowes. You have the option of sleeping on the boat (free) or staying in Richard Hollis' (MH 1966-71) B&B in Cowes (small fee)
  • We normally have a dinner chez Richard Hollis on the Friday evening
  • Fleet racing on Saturday in the Solent
  • Regatta dinner at RORC on Saturday night
  • Fleet or match racing on Sunday
  • Return to Port Solent on Sunday 5 Oct late afternoon. If you need to get back more quickly, there is the option of being dropped off in Cowes and taking the Red Jet back.

The cost this year is £490 per person. The cost includes boat hire, berthing, lunches on board and Saturday night's dinner with wine; not included are other drinks from the bar, B&B chez Hollis (if you don't sleep on board) and Friday night's dinner. There are discounts available for young OTs, so if cost is a factor, please let me know – we want to make sailing as accessible as possible to all OTs.

If you know any OT sailors, who would be interested in this, please feel free to forward this email to them and ask them to get in touch with me.

And if you have any questions, let me know. I am currently on holiday, but am checking my mail regularly, so I'll get back to you as quickly as I can.

Best wishes,

Nick (nick@pointon.net)
