PEARSON, John
Died on 22 March 2026, aged 67, unexpectedly of pancreatitis. Director of Studies, Teacher of Chemistry and Cowdrey House Tutor, John played a leading role in the academic leadership and management of the School. John was involved in the National Youth Music Theatre for over thirty-five years, directing and producing shows each summer at festivals around the country. He will be much missed by his sisters, Susan, Julie, Anne and their families, his friends and all in the Tonbridge Community.
A funeral will be held on Monday 20 April, 11.30am at Cromer Crematorium, Holt Road, Cromer, Norfolk, NR27 9JJ, followed by refreshments at The Roman Camp Inn, Holt Road, Aylmerton, Norfolk, NR11 8QD. All are welcome, but please let us know no later than 14 April if you plan to attend - tonbridge.society@tonbridge-school.org.
The School are also planning a Thanksgiving Service to be held in Chapel, the details of which will be circulated in due course.

MUSSON, Martin
Passed away on 25 February 2026, aged 92, in Ancaster, Ontario. Martin is survived and dearly missed by his wife Joan, children Susan and David, his grandchildren Ailie, Ken and Helena and his brothers Robin (WH 50-54) and Richard (WH 58-62). At Martin’s request, there will be no formal service. If you wish to celebrate his life, please enjoy a walk in the forest or an evening fishing out on the lake.

CHURCHER, Graham George Campbell (known to all as George)
Died peacefully at home in Cheshire, October 7 2025, aged 90. Much loved husband of Maggie (deceased) and a devoted father to Sarah. Very greatly missed by family and friends. A gentle gentleman.
George was the son of Graham George Edwin Churcher (MH 1912-1916).

PRICE, Brian Derek
Died peacefully on 29 September 2025 two days before his 86th birthday after a period suffering from Alzheimer’s. Dearly loved husband of Mary and the late Juliet, father of Edmund and Henry and proud grandfather of five.

OSMOND-EVANS Anthony William David
Passed away peacefully at home on 6 March 2026, aged 82, with his partner Lady Sylvia Loch by his side. Anthony, a photographer and publisher, known for China the Beautiful and The Spirit of London, he travelled widely documenting landscapes and cultures, also founding Good Connections. Playing real tennis at Petworth, he won the Manchester World Doubles. Much-loved partner of Sylvia Loch and step-family to Allegra and Peach, father of Nicola and Saskia; grandfather of Florence. He was a mixture of English gentleman, entrepreneur and a true artist. He was a regular visitor and supporter of Tonbridge School and will be much missed by family, friends and the Tonbridge community.
Funeral service at St John the Baptist, Stoke by Clare, Suffolk, 12 noon on Wednesday 1 April.

KIRCH, Sir David Roderick KBE
Died on 28 February 2026 in hospital after a period of illness. Brother to the late Christopher Kirch (HS 47-52) and the late Peter Kirch (HS 43-47) and uncle to Richard Kirch (PH 71-75).
He was a British businessman, collector and philanthropist. He assembled what was thought to be Britain's largest collection of provincial banknotes and the world's most extensive personal collection of airship memorabilia. He sold it all in the process of becoming one of the nation's most generous philanthropists for which he was knighted in 2013.

LANGDALE, Simon John Bartholomew
Died on 13 November 2025, aged 88. Much loved husband to Diana and father to Andrew (PH 78-82), Philippa and Mark. Grandfather to Phoebe, Paddy, Kit, Felix, Ollie and Rafe. Former Headmaster of Eastbourne College and Shrewsbury. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

PENDERED, Philip Stanley
Passed away on 10 February 2026, aged 93. Husband to Jeannine, father to Matthew (WW 81-86), Stephane (WW 83-88) and Olivier (WW 86-91). Judde House housemaster from 1979-1989 and teacher of French, Latin, Spanish and Japanese. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

MAYER, Andrew Henry FRICS
Passed away on Tuesday 2 December 2025, aged 77. A dedicated OT, and Governor of the School for many years, he was well known by all and loved Tonbridge. He will be much missed by his wife Pat, daughter Katherine, son Charles (WH 93-98), brother David (WH 63-67) and all his family and friends.

Passed away on 31 August 2023, aged 68. Brother to Tim (FH 65-69). A Marine Loss Adjuster who worked all over the world, he is much missed by his family and friends from far and wide.

Passed away peacefully on 30 September 2024, aged 92. Former chief executive of Hertfordshire County Council and much-loved husband to the late Jenny, and father to Emma, Daniel, Bridget and Alice.

Died on 1 January 2026, aged 90. Of Wadhurst, East Sussex. Served in British South Africa Police, Nyasaland Police and Royal Hong Kong Police. Father of Mark and John. Died on 22 December 2025, aged 80. A Captain of the Royal Navy, he ran out of sea room. Much-loved husband, father, grandfather.

PALMER, Reginald (Rex) James
Passed away on 27 December 2025, aged 94. Brother to the late Kenneth (Sc 44-48) and grandfather to Oscar Davies (PS 10-15). A regular visitor to Tonbridge, he will be much missed by his family.

BATCHELOR, Charles John
Born 11 December 1959 and died 19 September 2025.
Charles died peacefully at Exeter Hospital aged 66 after a long illness bravely born.
Charles is survived by his mother Gillian, his son Daniel and two young grandsons and his wife Lesley and her son James.
