Turner and Constable - Rivals and Originals
A lecture from Val Woodgate and entry to the Exhibition
at The Tate Britain, Millbank, London. SS1P 4RG
Wednesday 4 February 2026
11am to 2pm
Ever popular Val Woodgate, leading lecturer at the Tate, and for this exhibition, will be lecturing us before we enter this 'definitive exhibition of two pivotal British artists in the 250th year of their births'. Turner and Constable were the fiercest of rivals, with art critics of the day comparing their paintings to a clash of 'Fire and Water'.
Experience some of the artists' greatest works, with over 170 paintings and works on paper. Highlights include Turner's momentous 1835 The Burning of the Houses of Lords and Commons, not seen in Britain for over a century and The White Horse 1819, one of Constable's greatest artistic achievements.
Places: 50
Cost: £52.00
