Schiaparelli: Fashion Becomes Art
at The V&A Museum
Wednesday 24 June 2026
1pm to 3pm
Cromwell Rd, London SW7 2RL
.
The V&A South Kensington presents the UK's first exhibition on Elsa Schiaprelli. It spans the 1920s to today, celebrating the innovative designer's influence. It traces the fashion houses's groundbreaking origins and its evolution under current creative director Daniel Roseberry. Elsa Schiaparelli (1890-1973) was a pioneering fashion designer known for blending high fashion with Surrealism, wit, and bold, avant-garde design. Her work, characterised by 'shocking pink', unconventional materials, and collaborations with artists like Salvador Dali, defied traditional, elegant norms to creat unique, provocative, and often humorous, wearable art. Today the House of Schiaparelli continues to reinterpret her archival codes with surreal, bold, and highly embellished colletions. Their work is often seen strutting on the 'red carpet., dressing celebrities from Demi Moore to Bad Bunny.
"In difficult times, fashion is always outrageous" - Elsa Schiaparelli.
