Simon Perry (PS 84-89), Partner, Macfarlanes
After studying Law at Bristol, Simon has spent the last 28 years at Macfarlanes, undertaking a broad range of domestic and cross-border M&A and private equity work, acting for sponsors as well as for management teams and portfolio companies. He also advises on joint ventures, reorganisations and restructurings as well as transactions involving hotels and real estate.
Ed Denny, Partner, Winston & Strawn
On gaining a BA in History from Leicester University, Ed took a conversion course and began his legal career at Slaughter and May back in 2002. Having also worked at Norton Rose and Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe, Ed is now Head of Winston & Strawn’s tax department, supporting their domestic and cross-border corporate and finance practice. He focuses on the tax aspects of corporate finance transactions and structures, including mergers and acquisitions of public and private companies.
George Ewen (PS 05-10), Baker McKenzie
After Tonbridge, George spent three years at Durham University studying History and Politics. Upon graduation he received a training contract offer at Berwin Leighton Paisner (now Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner). George attended law school for two years, with the first year being a graduate diploma in law which was necessitated by his non-law university degree. After training at Berwin Leighton Paisner for two years he qualified into their corporate team where he stayed for a year before moving to Baker McKenzie's private equity team where he has been for three years. George's diet of work is a varied mix of private M&A and private equity work with a particular focus in the past 18 months on digital infrastructure and real estate transactions.
