The Renaissance in Perugia
An online talk with Dr Lydia Goodson
Tuesday 22nd March at 11.00am
The last in this terms Renaissance talks with Dr Lydia Goodson explores the history of Perugia, the capital of the Umbrian region of Italy. It was so fraught with violence that in 1500 the streets of the city were said to run with blood. At the same time, the city was home to some of the most sought-after artists of the Renaissance, including the young Raphael, and Pietro Perugino, then described as ‘the best painter in Italy’. This talk explores the highs, and the lows, of Renaissance Perugia and its exceptional artistic heritage.
This is an online talk.
