Highlights of the British Museum

The British Museum is the world’s first national public museum. Founded in 1753 it opened its doors in 1759. It has a permanent collection of some 8 million artefacts from all continents of the world which give insight into 2 million years of human history, art and culture and is visited by 6 million visitors each year. This guided highlights tour will take in some of the Museum’s most famous objects, revealing their history and how they came to be in the British Museum.
