Charles Parton has spent 37 years as a diplomat for both the UK and the EU, and for most of this time he has worked in China. An expert on Chinese politics, he will tell us about China’s attitude and control of the Internet, its approach to education and the reason why so many people want to take their money out of China – with is consequences to the London property market. He will also discuss the country’s human rights record and the environmental crisis in China, as well as its relationship with the USA and influence on North Korea. This promises to be a fascinating talk about a remarkable country, which affects us all.
