| In November, the school hosted nearly 80 Old Tonbridgians and guests at a reunion celebrating the prolific rugby coaching career of Graeme Gales, who is coaching the 1st XV for his final season at Tonbridge. Graeme has been involved in coaching the 1st XV at the school for 21 seasons, over the course of which he has overseen many successes including unbeaten seasons and national titles. By the end of this year, he will have coached 250 matches of 1st XV rugby and too many VII’s matches to count. In his address to OTs Graeme said: “For me, Tonbridge rugby is about pride, passion and feeling part of a special team. Over the years I have been fortunate to coach some great players, some awesome teams and coach with some inspirational coaches. I feel hugely privilege to have been part of Tonbridge rugby all this time and maybe just maybe, in 17 years’ time I might, if I am lucky, see my grandson run out on the 50 proudly wearing his black & white shirt!” Many thanks to all those who attended for helping us celebrate Graeme’s coaching career, and for making the event so special.
