OT Reunion 2025

We had the privilege of welcoming OTs and their guests back to the School on an unusually beautiful November day.

OTs spanning four decades from 1940 to 1980, and their guests, arrived at Tonbridge on Saturday 8 November to enjoy the now biennial Old Tonbridgian Reunion.

The Upper Sixth boys were on hand to meet and greet OTs in the Games Porch and the sun shone down as OTs gathered for coffee, tea and pastries in Old Big School. Tours of the School including the new or refurbished buildings were led by the current Third Year boys.

Reverend David Peters welcomed OTs back to Chapel for a moving service at 11am. OTs enjoyed listening to the Choir and joined in heartedly with the other hymns, including the School Song. The lesson was read by Patrick Tawney (SH 79-84) and sermon delivered by Father David. OTs were then treated to a stunning rendition of Widor’s Toccata on the organ at the end of Chapel, a firm favorite of many OTs from their time at Tonbridge.

Guests were then invited to Old Big School for pre-lunch drinks where they were introduced to the Head Student, Etornam (Sc). Headmaster James Priory regaled the gathering with news of the School and OT President, The Reverend Professor Ian Bradley (WH 63-68) entertained OTs with stories about the more colourful OTs from the School's history, having first complimented the gathering on their rousing hymn singing in Chapel.

An enjoyable two-course lunch followed in Big School. OTs were then invited for coffee and a final catch-up in OBS before joining the afternoon tours or adjorning to the Fifty to cheer on the Tonbridge 1st XV against Harrow 1st XV.

At the end of the day, OTs were invited back to their old houses to enjoy a cup of tea, slice of cake and a chat with the housemaster, matron and some of the current pupils.

With very many thanks to all those who joined us for this special day, some of whom had travelled a long way to be with us. We hope to welcome you all back to the School again soon.
