Asked to bat first, OTCC scored 192-9 in 35 overs with major contributions from Jono Arscott (62)(PH 83-88) and captain Rich Arscott (34)(PH 88-93). Crucially, Mike Wooldridge (24*)(WW 82-87) and Hugh Moxon (7*)(PH 88-93) managed 17 runs off the last over to give us some vital momentum.
The Waifs got off to a good start but we chipped in with wickets at important times – Rich Arscott taking an excellent catch and effecting a run out early on. With 10 overs to go, the Waifs needed 72 with 6 wickets in hand, when Kurt Seecharan (JH 82-87, CR 19-present) took the key wicket of Will Kendall (bowled). The required rate continued to rise and they needed 44 off the last 4 overs. We won by 21 runs in the end.
It was a terrific game played in a positive competitive spirit and a win for us at our first attempt in this competition that started in 2024. Many congrats to all who played.
Mark Pettman (WW 81-85)
OTCC President
