SINGER, Thomas Anthony ACII FIIC CRM

You are warmly invited to leave a message below, share your memories, and celebrate the life of Tom Singer who we sadly lost in 2022.

The following obituary and photograph were published by The Globe and Mail, Canada

The Singer family is sad to announce the passing of the family patriarch, Tom, on December 25, 2022, at the age of 84. He leaves behind his wife Marjorie, son James (Lisa, granddaughters Jordan and Taylor), daughter Erica (Roland, granddaughter twins Brianna and Cassandra), stepson Craig and stepdaughter Jayne (grandson Nathan, granddaughter Kirstyn). A child of the Holocaust, Tom was born in Vienna, Austria in 1938 and fled with his parents and older brother, reaching England later that year having managed to stay one step ahead of the Nazis. They were sponsored by his father's business friend in London. His father immediately joined the British Army and this helped the family gain British citizenship. For the next 30 years he lived in Kent in the South of England. While attending the University of London, he suffered an accident and whilst in the hospital he met Marjorie, a nurse, who became the love of his life. Seeing no future in England the family, which by then included son James and daughter Erica, immigrated to Canada in 1968 and settled in Ontario. He enjoyed a long career in the insurance business. He became well known in the industry for his seminars across Canada and his insurance evening classes at George Brown College in Toronto, for which the Insurance Institute of Canada awarded him their Award of Merit. In 1991, he lost his beloved wife to MS and he was fortunate enough to meet another Marjorie. They married in 1997 and they have enjoyed many happy years together until his passing. His hobbies were photography, and making model ships. Tom will be remembered as a quiet man, a listener rather than a talker, and a giver who was always ready to help if he could.
