Hosted by Oliver Knight (CH 97-02), Head of Development Strategy at Landsec, the evening featured a panel discussion with Stuart Moyce (MH 76-81), Executive Director, Corporate Real Estate at UBS; Damien Smith, Managing Director, Investment Banking at CBRE; and Adam Mactavish, Group Sustainability Director at Currie & Brown.
The panel explored a wide range of topics, from career journeys and lessons learned to advice for those starting out in the industry. Panellists discussed the importance of building strong relationships, developing both technical and commercial understanding, and gaining exposure to different parts of the sector.
Attention then turned to the current market, including changing occupier requirements, selective investment, the widening distinction between prime and secondary assets, and the growing importance of sustainability. The discussion also considered how repositioning, workplace expectations and the relationship between occupiers, investors and owners are shaping the opportunities ahead.
A lively Q&A gave the audience the chance to explore these themes further, with questions covering career development, market conditions and the future direction of the industry.
It was a tremendous success, with a strong turnout and an excellent atmosphere throughout the evening. Our thanks go to Oliver for hosting, and to Stuart, Damien and Adam for sharing their time, experience and insights so generously. We are also grateful to everyone who attended and helped make the evening such an engaging and worthwhile event.
