Freddie De Tommaso has signed a recording contract with Decca Classics, at the age of 28, and his album, Passione, is due to be released on 16 April.

Opera Now writes: “De Tommaso has already proved his worth as a singer and excels in the great tenor roles of Verdi and Puccini. He is a young artist who holds onto opera’s traditional values, inspired by great singers of the past and learning his craft as he treads the boards with the stars of today.”

Freddie also received a hugely enthusiastic mention from Alexander Armstrong on his recent Classic FM show. “Freddie is a bright name for the future and even talking about his singing is giving me goosebumps,” the presenter told listeners.

Tunbridge Wells opera singer, 28, signed to the same label as Pavarotti

Freddie De Tommaso, who still lives in Tunbridge Wells, releases his album Passione with Decca Classics.

A 28-year-old opera singer from Tunbridge Wells who went to Tonbridge School and is described as a "vocal phenomenon" has been signed by Decca Classics.

Freddie De Tommaso, who still lives in the town, releases his album Passione with Decca Classics on Friday (April 16) and joins the label's ranks of renowned tenors, including the late Pavarotti.

The operatic world has been in raptures about the tenor, who is accompanied by the London Philharmonic Orchestra on the album. He has been described as a "youthful Italian Domingo" and Decca said "he has the world at his feet".
