Stories from a Career in Chinese Art by Kate Hunt
Wednesday 4 February 2026
The Lowry Room, Tonbridge School
7pm to 8.30pm
From a chance encounter with the Dalai Lamai to priceless Ming vases, fakes and the occasional life-changing discovery.
Kate will explain, during this talk, that she left school with an abundance of optimism and absolutely no idea of what she wanted to do .........until she stumbled upon the world of Chinese art. She talks about her 30-year career as an Asian art antiques dealer, art journalist and international Chinese specialist at Christie's auction house. She can offer tips on how to authenticate a work of art, offering some practical examples. Please do contact Emma Hunt, our PAS host if you have a piece that you would like to share with Kate, to test her skills! Your skills will also be tested as Kate will bring in three pieces for you to guess the value and work out which is the fake!
