Dr Lydia Goodson returns for the last in her Renaissance talks this academic year which coincides with The National Gallery’s landmark exhibition on Raphael that opens in April. The exhibition and talk celebrate the career of the ‘Prince of Painters’ that was postponed from 2020 when it would have marked 500 years since his death. Join us for this talk that looks at the extraordinary career and artistic production of the man so famous and so admired in his lifetime that when he died in 1520 at the age of only 37 it was remarked in Rome that his death had caused such grief in heaven that the walls of the Vatican trembled and cracked.
