Colonel Seb Pollington (PH 1980-85), who has recently retired after 30 years in the British Army, will be joined by Tom Brown (PH 2009-14), recently graduated from Sandhurst, one of the world’s leading Military Academies. Together they will offer observations, from two different Tonbridge generations, on what it means to belong to the modern military.
Seb Pollington (PH 1980-85) is a former senior British Army officer. He recently retired with more than 30 years’ experience of leading UK operations around the world and has a background in Defence Intelligence. He has held senior positions working for the Foreign Office and has also taught leadership at Sandhurst and Cambridge University. For 10 years he was Chairman of Army Modern Pentathlon, the ‘military event’ at the Olympics. He has been a long-time contributor to Tonbridge, both as a parent and as an OT.
Tom Brown (PH 2009-14) is a graduate of Bristol University, former Army Reservist and now a regular officer due to serve with 1st Battalion Welsh Guards on completion of his training. He was Head of House at Tonbridge, where as a cadet his interest in the Army was established. Now having recently completed his leadership training at Sandhurst, he will reflect on the challenges faced so far, as well as those that are to come.
