Andrew taught at Tonbridge School for two terms in 1986. Since then his career in education took a different turn and his latest post was as Senior Lecturer in Special Education at the University of East London between 2015 and 2020.

Enhancing wellbeing and independence for young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties' – Lives Lived Well’ brings together the results of a survey of over 100 schools in the UK and abroad.  This book explores what well-being and independence mean for young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties (pmld). This unique resource presents the many ways schools work to ensure young people with pmld have lives of value. It will be an inspiration for those who share their lives with people with pmld, and it also asks what we can all learn about living lives well.

This is Andrew's third book on this subject after ‘Personalised Learning for Young People with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties’ (Jessica Kingsley Publishers, 2013) and ‘Inclusion is Dead; Long Live Inclusion’ (Routledge 2017).
