Highlights of the V&A
Thursday 21 April at 11.00am - 1.30pm
V&A, Cromwell Rd, London SW7 2RL
The V&A is celebrated as a treasure house of princely magnificence. And yet its origins are not the result of a dynastic collection. Established in 1852 in the wake of Britain’s Great Exhibition to showcase the best of British design, the museum and its holdings of international art and design are the result of more than 150 years of collecting by a public institution for public benefit. The permanent collection of over 2.27 million objects in 145 galleries cover an incredible 7 miles of space. A highlights tour of some of the most captivating and intriguing objects in the collection provides an introduction to the delights of the Victoria & Albert Museum.
