OT Freddie De Tommaso (WH 06-11) is set to make his Australian debut at the Sydney Opera House in August. Freddie will be performing an intimate recital on Sunday 11 August at 3pm at the Opera House, and a second performance will follow at the Melbourne Recital Centre on Sunday 18 August at 5pm. Since leaving Tonbridge, Freddie has been praised as 'one of the world's most exiting new tenors' and a 'vocal phenomenon' since his debut. Having won the Placido Domingo Tenor Prize and the Verdi Prize at the 2018 Vinas Singing Competition, Freddie solidified his position as a star talent in the opera world when, in 2021, he became the youngest tenor to ever perform the principal role of Cavaradossi in Tosca at the Royal Opera House, and the first British singer to do so since 1963. His first album, 2021's 'Passione' debuted at number one in the classical charts, becoming the first solo tenor to ever achieve this feat, and Freddie went on to win the BBC Music Magazine Award for Best Newcomer in the same year. His second album, 'Il Tenore', once again reached number one, with his rendition of Nessun Dorma achieving over one million streams. For Tonbridge community members in Australia who are interested in seeing the critically acclaimed Freddie perform, tickets can be found here for the Sydney performance and here for the Melbourne recital. |
